Team Building and Group Development
Rick Dorman has served as President and Lead Facilitator for Tecumseh Team Quest since its inception in 1998. More than 20 years experience as a family counselor, and later an employee assistance associate contributes to his skill in facilitation and processing team initiatives. Elisabeth Dorman is a gifted trainer and Adventure Course Facilitator with more than 15 years experience working with corporate, non-profit, and youth leadership teams. Additionally, Lis has more than 25 years experience as a helping professional and as a successful Team Leader and Manager. Her fun-loving and insightful interactions often provide the necessary inspiration for a team to break through and accomplish their goal.
Rick and Lis are effective role models as leaders, communicators, and problem-solvers, all skills that assist teams in their quest to become more effective in working, communicating, and solving problems together.
The opportunity to witness an individual break-through or a team “Aha!” moment motivates Rick and Lis to continue in their quest to grow small groups through group activities and team building activities.
Jon Schoonmaker, LPC, recently teamed up with the Tecumseh Team Quest staff as lead facilitator and coordinator of the team building activities. Jon is the founder of the Omega Project, the Legacy program, the Omega Leadership Initiative, and the Live Strong Retreat, and has helped countless teens at regional churches, schools, and youth agencies. Jon opened his counseling practice in Adrian, Michigan in 2010.
Jon utilizes an eclectic therapeutic approach that addresses the whole person and strengthens the interconnections between emotional health, cognitive health, physical health, and spiritual health.
In addition to trauma work, his areas of specialization include:
- interventions for at-risk adolescents,
- healing from sexual and physical abuse,
- grief counseling,
- adolescent development issues & support for teens and families,
- crisis intervention, and
- wilderness and adventure therapy.

How Does Team Building Grow at Tecumseh Team Quest?
The Tecumseh Team Quest Course is a series of obstacles or initiatives nestled in a secluded, wooded area right outside Tecumseh, MI (just 55 minutes from Detroit, 40 minutes from Ann Arbor, and 35 minutes from Toledo). The course serves as a multi-purpose training tool, allowing us to customize programs to meet customer needs even more effectively.
